Filthy Liberals

If you've been paying attention to politics for long (as I have, going on 40 years), you've heard many competing philosophies of government. One tenacious theory, presented by some (usually blue dog) Democrats and Republicans (mostly Republicans), is that the USA, our country, is a business. They believe it's right to operate our country like a business. I have never bought into this theory but many have. I have a different theory and I believe it is more appropriate to a land as large as the USA with as many different people, religions, and concerns.

I see our country as a family (dysfunctional at times). A very large family. Dad and mom run the family - they bring in the money, they allocate resources, they settle fights and assign responsibilities that change from time to time. Son and daughter have their own rooms. One is in college the other in high school. There are some adopted children, much younger and only one is in 2nd grade, the others will be soon but right now they are being cared for by babysitters when both parents are at work, or daycare. Grandfather and grandmother are here to, living in the same home, both retired. The parents work hard, like all American families, and have a revenue stream.  They try to save for hard times ahead or for future expenditures but the intent is not to become rich, just to be safe and secure, nurture our next generation and plan for retirement.

Some things, like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster, Ogopogo, etc., inhabit our deeply seated imagination and live there, never wanting to leave, because there is just enough evidence to keep the belief going and face it, many of us want to believe there are creatures on the face of the earth that have eluded our best scientists and anthropologists. History has shown that such a belief is not a fools occupation when creatures like the Coelacanth are discovered. For a long time now another mythical creature has been only whispered about, or hinted to by legends of our forefathers. I am talking, of course, about a Democrat with a spine. Amanda Terkel reports in the Huffington Post that we have had a sighting!

OMG WTF.

I had to read this story several times to shed the utter disbelief. The discovery of real evidence for the mighty Sasquatch would have been, frankly, easier to believe. But there it is, not just at Huffington Post but printed elsewhere. So it had to happen.

So what did happen? It appears Democratic Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.), and  Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) hit their saturation point today during yet another meeting held by our rightwing aristocrats to discuss "religious liberty and birth control". The meeting was called "autocratic" by Eleanor Holmes Norton.

au·to·crat·ic: 1) Of or relating to a ruler who has absolute power. 2) Taking no account of other people's wishes or opinions; domineering.

Anyone watching politics today knows the Republican party, led by regressive conservatives, has operated our lawmaking bodies since 2010 in this manner. It's high time someone who counts notices and did something, however feeble. Given that walking out is hardly anything, it's still far and above anything else the spineless, sea jelly-like Democrats have done for YEARS when faced with abuse by people who feel only conservative Republicans have a right to make national policy and laws that govern the 99%, and no one else need apply or they will be shouted down or blocked.

Republicans take office under the assumption they'll work on jobs, then proceed to legislate morality and push their social agenda upon the citizens of America. They are guilty of far more judicial activism, far more social engineering than any Democrat ever will be. It looks like Carolyn, Eleanor, and Mike got their fill.  Good for you three! You'll find it does you GOOD to stand up to the fascists. You'll also find you're going to be attacked by the rightwing, on hatriot radio, Fox News, and every media outlet the Republican party can use. Be ready for it. But you know what? You've also gained allies. You've gained an audience of people who will watch you and RESPECT you, aid you, support you and watch your back.

You haven't done a whole lot yet, you mighty trio, so don't expect a lot in return. In the next few days you're going to have to show you can fight back. Don't be like President Obama and cave. Instead show him an example of tough Democrats standing up to rightwing abusers. He's smart. He's not going to go out on a limb but if he sees people like you showing spine he'll be less reluctant (hopefully) to cave next time. While you are being attacked remember - we are watching. Liberals and progressives want to back fighters, not jelly fish. We WANT you to fight and don't be afraid of the media - they'll attack no matter what you do. Instead think of us, the citizens who are waiting for you to be heroes. We WANT to be allies to Democrats who will fight back. We want to got to the polls knowing we aren't supporting cowards and wimps. Your brave deeds (no words please too many of those without action) will DRIVE US TO VOTE FOR YOU.

Mr. President, you should be paying attention to these three Democrats. The Mighty Trio got spine.

Let's be clear. The Democratic party is not exactly a good place for liberals. Not anymore. Used to be, but now they're spineless sea jellies who for the most part (with exceptions like Grayson, Pelosi, Frank and a few others) won't fight back. They're afraid of conservatives attacking them in the media, or something else. Half of them faint when a Republican farts. They are useless piles of spineless sponge, but they're the only useless piles of spineless sponge we've got for now so they need support - unless you'd like to see the fascists (clad in the skin of the GOP and conservative Republican Politicians who are so close to Nazi's the difference is barely worth mentioning) win. In this case the enemy of our enemy is our friend and until a viable third party of true liberals rises from the ashes of our society we support the only people who can fight Republicans on the battlefield, the Democratic party.
